I’ve been heavily involved in editing other writers’ works over the last two months, in April I have another 115,000-word novel to edit, as well as ongoing edits to both The Dawn Chorus and The Masocheist. Still, I’ve also had time to knuckle down some more short stories for anthologies, I’m hoping to hear this month whether one of them has been picked up, but I’ve high hopes for it, it fits the call perfectly!
Dan Soule (Author of The Ash, Savage, etc) ran an interview with me which was posted today on Twitter, I was thrilled to be included on his website - here’s the link if you want to go check it out:
Anyone that read my review of his book, Savage, knows I love his work, it was my pick for best summer reading last year - and it was up against some hard-hitting competitors for the title. So yeah - thrilled to be on there.
I said in the interview that I was going to put together a reader magnet - something free to give to subscribers of my newsletter - and so I have set up a Google Docs page with the first three chapters of The Dawn Chorus, as a taster of the novel coming this year. This is a thank you to the 200+ subscribers I have - as you are no doubt aware, I’m not the best marketer of my own work, but I’m aware it is something I can improve upon - so this is my thank you, an “eyes-on early iteration” of The Dawn Chorus.
You are all awesome.
I’ve got one press I think this would be perfect for, I’m going to approach them once I’m happy with the edits, so keep your fingers crossed for me when I announce it here.
If you read it, let me know what you think, it still needs edits, but that’s an ongoing process
Here it is, click on the picture below to head to the doc, this is just a placement pic, I’m paying an outstanding (my opinion) artist to do interior artwork to accompany the novel, which I’ll be posting teasers of soon. Meantime, this was the pic that helped inspire elements of the book:
The Sadeiest cover was recently picked as one of The Nerdy Narrative’s favourite covers, which I’m thrilled about, cover artist Daniele Serra deserves as much praise as we can give him. If you want to check out the video, The Sadeiest is called out at the 6-minute mark:
Ok, I’m keeping this sweet and short, I’ll still be editing other writers’ books through April and May, with a quick sojourn to Spain at the end of the month to soak up the Spanish sun and visit my Daughter, who is working there as an au-pair. Can’t wait to discover Malaga!
As always, read you soon-
